This is a great opportunity for young people (18 - 28 year olds) from protection seeking / refugee or migrant backgrounds to gain industry-focused training, mentoring and paid work experience in Melbourne hospitality whilst building their job-readiness through practical, fun and informative workshops.

Spring Scarf '22 will run on the following afternoons/evenings (approx. 2.00pm - 10.30pm):

- Wednesday 12 October
- Wednesday 19 October
- Wednesday 26 October
- Wednesday 2 November
- Wednesday 9 November
- Wednesday 16 November
- Wednesday 23 November
- Wednesday 30 November

There will also be a program induction (evening, Wednesday 5 October) and Graduation (date to be confirmed). The majority of training sessions and Scarf Dinners will be at Liminal. Some sessions will run at other venues in the CBD or inner suburbs of Melbourne. All will be accessible by public transport.

Before applying, please ensure you've read and understood the information about our 10 week Seasonal Programs. You can see an example of a previous program schedule (from 2019) here.

Spring Scarf '22 includes a series of Scarf Dinners, which will allow participants the opportunity to engage in real, paid work experience with support from hospitality mentors. These Scarf Dinners will run each Wednesday evening during the program. Trainees will be paid Restaurant Industry Award wages for their work, and will be able to list their Scarf Dinners experience on their resume.

About Spring Scarf '22

This program is specifically for young people (18 - 28 years) from protection seeking, refugee or migrant backgrounds who are unemployed. It is a free program and will provide training, mentoring and paid work experience opportunities to eight young people facing barriers to employment.

Taking part in a Scarf 10-week Seasonal Program allows participants to gain crucial hospitality knowledge and skills, access to accredited training, and to build their networks, job-readiness and confidence. It also includes the option to engage in real, paid work experience (whilst supported by hospitality mentors) during a full 8-week season of Scarf Dinners, as well as access to up to 6 months of post-program support, with a focus on job-seeking and wellbeing, from the Scarf team.

There are lots of hands-on hospitality training sessions held on Wednesday afternoons throughout Scarf Seasonal programs.
